| We set out from Oamaru in the morning, stopping just north of Dunedin for morning coffee. We arrived in Balclutha at lunchtime, and after a modest repast (chicken, cranberry and brie paninis at the Gate Cafe in downtown Balclutha) checked into the Helensborough Motor Inn in Balcutha (our home for two nights). In the afternoon we drove into the Catlins, visiting Kaka Point (for afternoon tea and carrot cake) and Nugget Point (lots of seals but no snacks). |
