General resources
- Some general advice on making an application to a PhD

- A lot of useful information is available on the ISG PhD
student resource pages.
- There is a large and very useful collection of
crypto-related PhD theses here - if you have
one, you should add yours today!
- The Guardian style book, an extremely useful
guide on writing clear English, is available here.
This is recommended reading for all students, along
with the Oxford Guide to Plain English. In this
connection, see also the home page of the excellent Plain English
Campaign.
- I have put together a list of LaTeX resources, including templates for a Ph.D. thesis, which may be of use.
- Steven Galbraith has compiled an extremely useful PhD student information pack, including a number of valuable links.
- The PhD
regulations for Royal Holloway are available
online.
- The Mathematics Department maintains a Technical
Report series, which includes a number of PhD
theses.
- This set
of PowerPoint slides was used as the basis of a
School of Mathematics and Information Security research
student training session on Plain English.

entitled Towards

which discusses possible career routes for research

- Stefan Rueger's How
to write a good PhD thesis and survive the
viva, gives advice on how to write a good PhD
thesis in computing in the UK.
