| Thursday 10th was our first full day in Eymet. We left home soon after 8:00 on Tuesday 8th, and had an easy drive down to Dover (with time for a coffee from the flask at Clacket Lane). The only problem was that our LD Lines ferry was a good hour late leavng from Dover, and so we spent a couple of hours sittng in a hot car on the tarmac at Dover docks. The ferry crossing was very smooth and pleasant, and we set off from Boulogne a little over an hour later than planned. The drive from there to Chartres (where we spent Tuesday night) was very easy. The Ibis at Luce (on the edge of Chartres) was good and cheap, and Chartres itself was delightful - we had a great dinner at a restaurant just by the cathedral. Wednesday 9th was spent driving from Chartres to Eymet. No real problems, except for the heat, which meant we needed to stop for a rest every hour or so - oh for air conditioning! |
